As an advertising and public relations major, you’ll learn how to design, develop and launch incredible campaigns. And you’ll learn from and work with faculty and professors who are experts in their field. In this program, you’ll take a range of classes in topics such as public relations, social media, design, persuasion and production. In courses like these, you’ll gain a strong foundation in communication theory and practice.

COM 116 Public Relations Planning and Strategy
Gain a theoretical and practical foundation for the study and application of public relations as a management function in the overall organizational strategy. Explore organizational PR, social media, reputation management and viral marketing. Create a PR campaign for a contemporary organization.

COM 108 Media Literacy
Examine multiple components of the media paradigm, including the operation of contemporary and developing media, the role of advertising, the effect of society’s communication needs and emerging technology on the evolutionary nature of media, the development of content, operation of media-related equipment, and an analysis of how individuals can function as knowledgeable media consumers to accurately interpret content.

GVC 350 Advertising, Design and Production
Study “real world” applications of design, principles and thought. Learn the management of projects for commercial printing and electronic applications. Help improve ads through verbal direction as well as the design and production components. Work with classmates and use them as a resource in the conceptual and technical processes.

Graduates must complete a total of 120 credits.
