Project Civitas

Promoting civility in politics and public life.

Advocate for civility in our communities and country

The Latin word civitas means citizenship and represents a sense of community. Project Civitas at Lynn University stems from the recent U.S. election that has divided the nation. Its mission is to promote civility in politics and public life through education in and outside of the classroom.

You can take part in the project, too. Help us promote Jan. 21 as a National Day of Civility, participate in Dialogues in Civility programs and take the civility pledge.

"I pledge to cooperate, compromise and seek consensus in my public discourse and interactions with others."

“One of the greatest challenges facing our democracy today is the lack of civility in politics and public life. A healthy democracy requires a commitment to cooperation and the ability to compromise.”
