Social innovation management curriculum

All MBA students must complete six foundational courses (three credits each) that provide a knowledge of business and management with topics in marketing, human resources and financial accountability. You also will complete nine electives credits and receive nine credits from Amani Institute's social innovation management program. In this program you will first take Lynn’s MBA foundation courses, on campus or online. Then, complete Amani Institute’s nine-month program, which is a combination of online and in-person courses in India or São Paulo, Brazil.

As a student in this program, you will experience a signature personal development curriculum, learn how to design innovative solutions for problems you care about, participate in a customized apprenticeship in an organization of your interest, take inspiring field trips to beautiful locations inside India or Brazil, and extend your global network.

Graduates must complete a total of 36 credits in the following categories:

  • 18 MBA foundational credits
  • 9 specialization credits
  • 9 elective credits

MBA 505 Inner Journey of the Changemaker - Amani Institute
The Inner Journey of the Change Maker addresses the need for personal alignment, change and development when working in the social change or international development sector. Explore the “inner journey” a change maker must take to align your life and access your full potential, build resilience and communicate with others more effectively. As personal mastery is a lifelong process, involving more than just the rational aspects of yourself, this course is designed to create room for reflection and exercises geared toward accessing the whole person and to build a basis for a continuous practice in your life. The course will include conceptual frameworks, open discussions, interactions with experts from the field, and many exercises.

MBA 600 Leadership and Management of Organizations - Lynn University
Explore today’s leading thinkers in business and influential theories and approaches to contemporary business issues. Analyze organizational styles, innovation and change, globalization and technology to determine best practices for leaders and managers. Apply these ideas, theories and strategies to analyses of case studies and personal examples.

MBA 620 Marketing Management in a Global Economy - Lynn University
Focus on the major decisions that marketing managers and top management face in their efforts to mesh the objectives, core competencies and resources of an organization with the opportunities and threats in an increasingly global marketplace. Apply marketing thinking to products and services for any profit or not-for-profit organization.

The Social Innovation Management courses at Amani Institute have three parts:

  • One-month foundation phase: approximately 15–20 hours per week online (can be done alongside Lynn courses or while working elsewhere)
  • Four-month immersion phase: takes place in India or São Paulo, Brazil
  • Five-month accelerated coursework phase: approximately 5 hours per week online (can be done alongside Lynn courses or while working elsewhere)
